Champions League: Shakhtar Donetsk Dealt Huge Blow To Real Madrid's Last 16 Qualification Race

Real Madrid have suffered a devastating 2-0 loss to Shakhtar Donetsk that sent them down to a third position and trailing the Group B leaders Monchengladbach by two-point.

The Spaniards conceded two game-wrenching goals in the second half with the opener coming off as a product of defensive error from Ferland Mendy's poor pass, which Dentinho ran into the box for and slammed the loose ball into the net in just12 minutes after their return from the halftime break.

Whilst Real could not get an equalizer, the Ukrainian side secured the victory as Manor Solomon raced on with the ball near the edge of the box and slammed a well-aimed shot that beat Courtois to the goal with eight minutes left to play.

Solomon has now scored in both matches played against Real and all his three goals so far in this campaign have resulted from him coming in as a substitute.

Real's fate of making the qualification for the knockout stage now hangs in the balance as they are level on points with the Ukrainians and will have to win their next group stage game against Monchengladbach on December 9.
