Anthony Joshua Is Set For Bout With Tyson Fury
AJ delivered a remarkable performance against the Bulgarian challenger who struggled to land a convincing blow on the heavyweight champion and bowed out in a knockout in the ninth round. Joshua was never in doubt in taking out Kubrat to set up a fight with his countryman and WBC heavyweight champion.
It has been almost 12 most since Joshua fought - the rematch fight with Andy Ruiz Jr. after a disappointing first fight - yet Kubrat could not match his fitness and boxing skill and was floored twice before his defeat that was the second in his career.
The victory was the 22nd KO in his career in an emphatic and convincing that could be deemed as a strong message to Tyson. His bout with the acclaimed Gypsy will be undeniably the biggest fight in recent time in the United Kingdom.
Speaking of the victory, Joshua described his Christmas gift to his teaming fans, which was what he intended to do rather than granting interviews. He said he would rather get the job done than talk too much about it.
"It was a fight. I want less talk and more action in boxing. I hope everyone was satisfied tonight. I stuck to what I know best," said Joshua. "When I was successful, I was successful. I really don't want to do an interview right now. I just want everyone to go home and enjoy their Christmas."
Kubrat managed to survive dangerous onslaught from Joshua in the third round but his hide-and-seek technique would fall apart in the nine when he was fully faced with the fate of defeat as Joshua repeatedly land uppercuts on him. Those match-wrenching blows had first landed the Bulgarian on his knee before he was finally floored.
