Wonder Woman 1984 Gets Theatrical, Streaming Release On Christmas Day.
After a long wait for the release of Wonder Woman 1984, Warner Bros. has confirmed the Gal Gadot starring superhero film will be available to stream on HBO Max on the same it will make a theatrical debut on Christmas Day.
The sequel's release date had repeatedly changed which initially had nothing to do with the coronavirus pandemic but the global health crisis later complicated the situation, forcing the film that was set to drop in the winter of 2019, got a push back to June 2020 and finally to December 25, 2020.
Patty Jenkins who directed the film deemed it necessary to release the film than delay any further because sharing love and joy with their fans in this pandemic comes as a priority over anything else. To that effect, they endeavor to take the risk of making the film available on the streaming platform on the same day as for cinemas.
"The time has come. At some point you have to choose to share any love and joy you have to give over everything else," said Jenkins. "We love our movie as we love our fans, so we truly hope that our film brings a little bit of joy and reprieve to all of you this holiday season."
Wonder Woman made an impressive debut grossing $103million in the domestic market on opening weekend at the box. It went on to close with a worldwide gross of a staggering $821.84million.
