Vienna Open: Andrey Rublev Wins To Claim Fifth Title This Season
The Russian had a clean unbeaten run through the tournament and stamped his control of his opponent winning by 6-4 6-4 and saved the two break advantages faced against the Italian player.
"This tournament is really special for me because my grandma was also Austrian, so I have Austrain blood," said Andrey on leveling with Novak Djokovic on titles won so far this season.
The 23-year-old was faced with a hard-fought match against Dominic Thiem in the quarter-final, and survived a scare in the opening set after outlasting the Austrian-native player in a tie-break to win the set and breezed through the decider.
Winning Vienna Open title guaranteed the champion, Andrey, his first-ever qualification to Nitto ATP Finals which be held between 15-22 November at the O2 Arena in London .
