Turkish Grand Prix: Lewis Hamilton Wins Record Seventh Title

Lewis Hamilton defiled the odds to clinch a record-leveling seventh F1 world championship record despite starting in the sixth position in the Turkish Grand Prix final. Both Mercedes and the driver finished the season by winning their seventh title as the Briton leveled with Michael Schumacher on most F1 title win in history.

It was an emotional victory for Hamilton who could not help but wipe tears off his eye speaking on the podium on reaching the milestone. He admitted to being "lost for words" to have equal Schumacher's record and said it comes off the good relationship between the drivers and the team.

"I've got to say thank you to my family," said Hamilton. "We dreamed of this when we were young, watching the Grand Prix, and this is way, way beyond our dreams."

Hamilton also recalled his dreams as a child to become F1 champion someday, a dream he has now achieved beyond his dream and urged kids who are nursing the same dream to "dream the impossible" and make sure they "never give up or doubt" the possibilities of realizing their dreams.

Pole started, Lance Stroll finished nowhere near the podium rather in ninth while Ferrari's out-going driver Sebastian Vettel delivered a stunning performance to finish in third - his first podium finish of the season - trailing behind Racing Point driver Sergio Perez who finished second.

Stroll controlled the race from the start in a one-two lead with Perez until making his second pit stop when he lost the lead while Hamilton paced up to take the lead. Charles Leclerc also gave a good fight for a place in podium position only to finish fourth behind Sebastian.
