Sofia Open: Jannik Sinner Wins Title

Jannik Sinner has won his first maiden ATP Tour title at the Sofia Open after outlasting Vasek Pospisil in three sets 6-6 3-6 7-6(3) at the final.

Pospisil forced the match into a tiebreak at 6-5 by denying the Italian two match points but he was outclassed by Jannik who claimed an early break at 4-2 and wrapped up the victory with the Canadian player hitting wide a backhand shot.

"It was a very difficult match today," Jannik admitted. "It is a nice feeling to win the first title last year in the same week. It is good. I felt well the whole week here. It is beautiful playing here."

The teenager, 19, is the sixth Italian player to be a first-time ATP Tour title winner this season and he is also the youngest to lift to be an ATP Tour titlist in 12 years - the last was Kei Nishikori who won his at the age of 18 in 2008.
