Premier League: Liverpool Lose Reclaiming Table Lead In A Draw With Man. City

 


Manchester City avoided home defeat to Liverpool and secured a 1-1 draw from Gabriel Jesus' brilliant finish thas level the scoring with the defending champions. 

Sadio Mane drew a penalty after being dropped in the box by Kyle Walker and Mo Sallah converted the spot-kick to put Reds in the lead. Gabriel soon received a through pass from Kevin de Bruyne and slammed home the equalizer after making a brilliant turn on Trent Alexander-Arnold in the box. 

Citizens later had the chance to walk away with the maximum point after VAR Joe Gomez's handball for a penalty, but Kevin shot wide the spot-kick. The Belgian also made a couple unsuccessful attempts at the target during the game. 

Ederson Santana saved Alexander-Arnold's shot from close range and denied Liverpool of regaining the lead following a fast break inspired by Mane.

The draw denied Liverpool the maximum points to reclaim the top spot of the table and are now third with points tied with Tottenham (17 points), who trailed behind Southampton.
