Premier League: Chelsea Beat Newcastle To Take Table Lead
Tammy Abraham scored his third league game goal to secure the maximum points for Chelsea in a 2-0 victory over Newcastle United at St. James' Park.
Blues remained unbeaten in six league games and nine games in all competitions and have now occupied the top spot of the EPL table with tying on points (18) with Leicester City - Foxes dropped a place down to being the second.
Newcastle handed out the opening to their opponents just 10 minutes into the game when Federico Fernandes tapped in their own net Tino Werner's cross for Ben Chilwell to finish. Werner later inspired the second goal, after dribbling past three opponents after the break and slid a through ball to Tammy, who beat Karl Darlow to find the back of the net for the second goal.
Magpies could have endured more losses to Blues as Werner on multiple occasions was close to getting a goal likewise Tammy who header was saved by Darlow just before Fernandes' own goal, and Sean Longstaff's shot that clipped the crossbar was Newcastle's only shot at the target through the game.
