Premier League: Brighton Force Liverpool To A Draw In Injury-Time
Pascal Gross seized an injury-time finish from a penalty to force a 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Falmer Stadium as the defending champions take the table lead by just a point ahead of the nearest team, Tottenham.
Reds were set to claim the maximum points having taken the lead after an hour of play from Diogo Jota's finish until Andrew Robertson fouled on Danny Welbeck inside the box in the added minutes.
The referee ruled the tackle against Reds and awarded a spot-kick to Brighton, which Gross carefully finish to level up the scoring. It was a disappointing moment for Jurgen Klopp watching his team share points with their hosts.
The potentially could have been Reds' but the VAR ruled against a goal from Mohamed Salah in the first half and it was canceled. Likewise, Sadio Mane also had his ruled out by the VAR late in the second half.
Brighton have not won a league game against Liverpool in 12 months as Reds maintained a head-to-head lead over by W10 D2and have been without home win in the past nine games at Falmer Stadium.
Diogo finished the game extending his goal tally to his ninth in 14 appearances in all competitions whilst Sallah's assist on the opening goal was his ninth in seven league games.
