Premier League: Arsenal Endure Big Loss To Aston Villa

Aston Villa made away with a well-deserved victory against Arsenal claiming a 3-0 victory at Emirates Stadium as Ollie Watkin scored a brace to secure maximum points for the side.

Despite VAR ruling out John McGinn's goal, Arsenal could not help but give in to their pressure as Saka Bukayo deflected home Matt Targett's cross and handed the opponents the lead.

Whilst Alexander Lacazette and Rob Holding could not convert chances had from close range after the break, Watkin doubled the lead for Villa heading into the net Barkley's cross and followed up three minutes later, drilling a left-footed shot home for the third goal after Jack Grealish inspired a fast break and let a pass to him.

Arsenal could have gone down with a wider goal margin only for Kieran Tierney who was at their rescue and cleared Grealish's from the touchline into safety.

Watkins only joined Villa from Championship side Brentford for £28million this summer and he is the side's leading goalscorer with six goals in seven league game appearances.

The defeat is the biggest home loss by Arsenal since December in 2019 against Manchester United (3-0) while it was Villas' third consecutive away league game wins this season.
