Olivier Giroud: Chelsea Might Lose Player In January

Olivier Giroud is beginning to feel concerned over not getting enough game time at Chelsea and will make known his decision on his future at the club in the January transfer window.

The Frenchman was subbed for newly-signed player Hakim Ziyech during the side's 2-0 win against Newcastle United on Saturday and has only made four appearances for the side so far this season.

Amidst calls to him to stay at the club by his manager Frank Lampard, the striker dismissed being worried rather he admitted he is 'concerned' and it is apparent that he no longer has a role to play any longer in the team.

"'Worried' is a big word, but it is concerning," the 30-year-old told Telefoot. "It's true that I felt I still had a role to play in this [Chelsea} team, especially after ending last season very well."

Moreover, France national team head coach Didier Deschamps is not pleased with the situation of the player at the club, despite playing a significant role in securing their qualification to the Champions League having finished in the top four last term.

However, Giroud maintained that he is "clear-headed" over the situation and revealed he has been in talks with Deschamps. Nevertheless, he added: "I will have to make a decision in January and I hope to make the right one as I have always done."

However, the introduction of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner to the squad has narrowly the need for the Frenchman in the attack while the newly-signed duo has been making a consistent appearance in the lineup.
