Manchester United: Club Links With Mauricio Pochettino As Pressure Mounts On Solksjaer

Manchester United have rekindled interest in Mauricio Pocchettino as pressure continues to mount on the club's manager, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, over the team's floppy performance.

Solksjaer came under more criticism with calls for his replacement after the team lost 2-1 to the Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir in the Champions League group match. In the domestic league, United are faring well either as they trailed in the 15th position in the EPL table, they now risk being pushed to the brink of redline if they fail to regain winning form.

Pocchettino was previously linked to United on the dismissal of Jose Mourinho as a replacement, the position was later offered to the Norweigan. The Argentine has since his dismissal at Tottenham been out of job and is set to return to management with links to Manchester City.

United are understood not to want to lose the former Spurs manager this time because of his link to City, and have reportedly made a contact with the view of hiring him to replace their struggling manager according to MEN. Instead of waiting until the end of the season, United made a move not to lose the bid to City.

Meanwhile, Pochettino is also planning for his return to management and made it known on his appearance on Monday Night Football  that he is currently "looking forward to being back in the game."
