Manchester City And Pep Guardiola Sign New Two-Year Deal

Manchester City has reaffirmed their commitment to Pep Guardiola and signed with the team boss a new two-year deal that will keep him at the club until 2023.

The Spaniard, 49, who had a season remaining in his previous contract with the club before the extension, has not found the start to the 2020 season easy having won three in seven league games, leaving the team in 10th position with 12 points and trailing the table leaders Leicester by six points.

"We have had long talks this week together," revealed Guardiola in a statement released on the club's official website. "We put [forward] both sides - to continue or not - and in the end, we decided that the best for all of us is to continue because still, we have the feeling that there is unfinished business and there is something to do."

Guardiola, however, is having a title-decorated spell at the club that has won two Premier League titles, three League Cups, and one FA Cup in his reign since 2016. He is also the first manager to lead a Premier League club to win a domestic treble which he attained in the 2018/19 season.

He added, "We have achieved a great deal together, scored goals, won games and trophies, and we are all very proud of that success.
