Lewis Hamilton Commits Future To Formula 1

Just while anyone would have speculated that Lewis Hamilton might end his racing career at the end of the season having equaled Michael Schumacher's record feat of seven F1 world championship titles, it appears the Mercedes pilot is yet ready to stop, rather he is keen on helping the sport and his racing team, Mercedes.

Hamilton clinched his seventh F1 championship title at the Turkish Grand Prix over the weekend, and the Mercedes had secured its seventh successive constructors' championship title at Emilia Romagna GP a weekend earlier.

Speaking about the season, Hamilton revealed it has been a tough year for him just as it might have been for anyone and has managed to stay focus with help from his team. In retrospect, the season calendar was revised following the global outbreak of coronavirus.

Being a driver who is outspoken against human rights violations, Hamilton wants the sport to be more engaging in these situations especially in countries that host the races.

"I feel like we've got a lot of work to do here," Hamilton alerted the sport. "We've only just begun our work to hold ourselves accountable as a sport, to realize we've got to face and not ignore the human rights issues that are around the countries that we go to and show how we can engage with those countries and help them. empower them to do more."

"I want to help Formula 1," the 34-year-old added. "I want to help Mercedes in that journey. And also moving to be more sustainable."

Meanwhile, Hamilton defiled the odds at the Turkish Grand Prix by delivering a stunning performance and controlled the race despite starting in the sixth to secure the title. Since winning his first title with McLaren in 2018 as the then youngest driver to lift the trophy, Hamilton has won six titles in seven seasons with Mercedes.
