Formula One: Schumacher Shuns Claim Max Verstappen Is Better Than Lewis Hamilton

Former F1 star Ralf Schumacher did not share a claim that Max Verstappen is a much better driver compared with Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton. Rather, he commended Hamilton's quality as such that stands out amongst all the drivers.

Red Bull chief Helmut Marko, in his claims, ranked Verstappen above the six-time champion over the believes that the Briton could not have been spectacular if not for his Mercedes car. In his opinion, Verstappen can do better than that in the same car.

Hamilton holds the record for the most F1 race win with 93 Grand Prix wins, and he is coasting to clinching his seventh world championship, which will be a record-leveling feat with Michael Schumacher.

"Because Helmut Marko believes Max Verstappen would be faster than Lewis in the same car for one season," Schumacher argued against the Red Bull chief, however, believed Verstappen and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc has the qualities of being better especially in the qualifying.

"I am also convinced of that," he continued. "In the race, though, Lewis is still the better. There he stands above everyone! And points are only awarded on Sunday."

Red Bull drivers are the only strong contenders against the Mercedes duo - Hamilton and Valterri Bottas - and they are second behind Mercedes constructors, who clinched their seventh championship title in Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Last season, it was Ferrari that gave Mercedes a big fight on the racetrack.

Hamilton is just at least two races away from lifting his seventh Fi championship title as he is in the lead with 282 points followed by his teammate Valterri Bottas with 197 points. Verstappen is third with 162 points.
