Dustin Johnson Wins First Masters Title At Augusta

Dustin Johnson has for the first time in his career won the Masters title finishing by five strokes at a record-breaking low score of under 20 at par at Augusta on Sunday.

The world number one missed out on two tournaments for testing positive for Covid-19 symptoms and he returned to beat defending champion Tiger Woods and two other contenders - Cameron Smith and Sungjae-lm - to the title.

Johnson gained the winning advantage over Smith, who was a strong contender after he successfully negotiated the 11th (Amen Corner) with a birdie on the 13th and followed up with three in a row at 14 and 15 to build up to 20 under par. He then finished up with a tap in for par on the 18th.

"I will look back on this week and rue what happened," said Johnson. "I wasn't really thinking about trying to win the tournament. When I reached 11 under and DJ was at 15 under I thought maybe, but then the wind got up."

Northern Irish player, Rory Mcllroy could not stand a chance having finished ninth shots back in tied fifth and five-time Masters winner, Tiger Woods, carded 10 on three-par at 12 under and missed out on clinching his sixth Green Jacket at Augusta.
