ATP Finals: Daniil Medvedev Outlasts Dominic Thiem To Lift Title

Dominic Thiem has failed to secure the Nitto ATP Finals title on his second appearance in the final after losing to Daniil Medvedev in three sets 4-6, 7-6(2), 6-4 at the O2 Arena, London, United Kingdom.

The Russian's road to victory was not an easy path as he had to defeat three players - Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Thiem - to emerge as the champion to clinch the biggest title of his career and the fight from the country to win the ATP Finals.

After losing the opener, Medvedev became more resilient in the second set and held on against the Austrian into the tiebreak and was in the trail by 0-2 before he rallied to claim seven consecutive match points to win the set. The third seeded-player, Dominic, fought back strongly in the decider but lost out during the match that lasted for two hours 42 minutes.

"First of all, what a match. one, maybe, one of my best victories. I mean 2 hours 42, three sets against an amazing player, Dominic," said Medvedev who also congratulated his opponent on winning his first Grand Slam title at the US Open this season.

The 24-year-old won his third Masters 1000 title in Paris this season and has closed the season with his Nitto ATP Finals title on his second appearance at the event,
