Amber Heard To Reprise Role In Aquaman 2 Despite Petition To Remove Her
Amber Heard will return to her role in Aquaman 2 despite calls for her to be dropped from the franchise just as Johnny Depp dropped out of Fantastic Beast.
The petition to have the actress removed was over Johnny's lost legal battle with a media outlet that accused him of beating his ex-wife, Amber. Losing the case resulted to the actor being dropped from his from his role as Gellert Grindelwald in Fantastic Beast 3.
Amber alleged the calls for her to be dropped of being sponsored and that there is "no basis in reality" for them to suggest cast decisions to DC Films. The petition, however, has received well over one million signatures from fans.
"Paid rumors and paid campaigns on social media don't dictate [cast decisions] because they have no basis in reality," Amber explained in a statement. "Only the fans actually made Aquaman and Aquaman 2 happen."
The actress who starred as Mera is "super excited" over reprising her role in the sequel, and thanked the film's fans for the love they have showed the franchise.
"I'm super excited about the amount of fan love and the amount of appreciation that Aquaman has acquired," she said in excitement. "And that it has garnered so much excitement for Aquaman and Mera that it means we'll be comeback. I'm so excited to film that."
