Watford Ends Contract With Danny Welbeck

Watford have reached a mutual agreement with Danny Welbeck to terminate the contract signed with the player on transfer from Arsenal last summer.

The former Manchester United striker joined Watford that was meant to expire next season but went down with the side that finished in the redline in the Premier League to be relegated to the EFL Championship.

Clarets announced the contract termination via its official Twitter account and confirmed that the England Internation could now join a new club as a free agent. The contract cancellation effectively ended his release clause of £5.5million.

"Watford FC confirms that it has reached an agreement to allow Danny Welbeck to leave on a free transfer," the club in a statement.

Welbeck leaving Hornets came the day after the transfer window deadline date had past and the club could only wish him well on his search for a new future.
