Porto's Defender Signs For Manchester United
Manchester United have just signed a Porto left-back player Alex Telles to a four-year contract of an initial fee that is worth £13.5million.
It is was obvious that United's defense is in a terrible shape having suffered an embarrassing 6-1 loss to Tottenham at home on Sunday. Most of the goals conceded came off the backdrop of a poor defensive play by the team.
"To join a club with the prestige of Manchester United is a huge honour," said Alex on United's official website. "I won many trophies at FC Porto and I want to continue that at United."
Alex had already played three league games this season with his former club with which he won the league title last season and played in the team's 2-3 home loss to Maritimo on Saturday.
Speaking of the Brazilian, 27, United manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer described the player as one who is determined that has the qualities that will help make a difference in the team.
"He is a player we have been tracking for some time," said Solksjaer. "His performances over the past few years are exactly what we are looking for."
