Manchester United Rekindle Interest In RB Leipzig Defender Dayot Upamecano
Manchester United is considering bolstering their defense and is reportedly ready to relaunch interest in a Dayot Upamecano next summer.
United had an impressive start to the Champions League with a 2-1 win against until domestic league where they suffered a humbling 6-1 home defeat Tottenham and improved W2D1L2 to be 15th in the table. In the need to revamp the defense, United are reportedly ready to trigger the £38million release clause of the French full-back.
Ole Gunnar Solkjaer also confirmed the club's interest in the 22-year-old Monday, however, chose to maintain his reservation over the progress they have made on securing his signature.
"I've always tried to respect they are players for other teams and don't want to comment on every player we are linked to," said Solkjaer. "But since he's playing against us tomorrow. I know he's a very good player and we can see him close up tomorrow."
Dayot was available for signing for only £2million but United missed and he was signed to RB Leipzig from Red Bull Salzburg in 2017 and has until 2023 in his contract with the club. Now, United are not alone in the race for the defender's signature as Bayern Munich have also indicated an interest in the Frenchman.
