Los Angeles Clippers Appoint New Head Coach
Los Angeles Clippers have announced the appointment of Tyronn Lue as the franchise new head coach to replace Doc Rivers.
Doc stepped down from his role at Clippers enroute the team's elimination in the play-offs by Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference semi-finals. Clippers were in the trail by 3-1 behind Nuggets when the former Philadelphia 76ers head coach walked away from the team.
The franchise president Lawrence Frank described their new coach as an individual with "one of the great minds" in the league and has the capacity to "impart" his qualities on the team.
"Ty has been where we want to go. He is a championship head coach with an extraordinary feel for the game and the people who play it. he's one of the great minds in our league," Frank added.
Lue led his former franchise Cleveland Cavaliers to three consecutive NBA Finals before securing the franchise's first-ever Championship trophy in 2016. At the time, he was the head coach of Los Angeles Lakers' star forward LeBron James with whom he won the title.
