French Open: Novak Djokovic Eases Through Against Ricardas Berankis
Novak Djokovic claimed an emphatic victory over Ricardas Berankis in straight sets 6-1 6-2 6-2 to progress to the third round on his 70th win in Garros Roland.
Berankis could not break against the top-seeded player who instead served 10 aces and won six in seven breaks against the Lithuanian to improve 32-1 this season.
The 30-year-old managed to play through the third set despite an injury and lost out after one hour and 23 minutes of play on his second encounter against the five-time finalist.
"It was difficult for Ricardas in the third set he had an injury and couldn't move very well," said Djokovic. "But I felt good just as I did in the first round and I want to continue like that."
The Serb who is campaigning for his second Garros Roland title will play Colombian player Daniel Elahi Galan in the next round.
