Fast & Furious Is Near Its End
Fast & Furious is a long-running franchise that is near making a double-digit entry and has been highly successful at the box office since its debut. Unfortunately, the film is near its end with only two-part entries remaining before it is called a wrap.
Fast & Furious 9 is the next entry scheduled for release soon, but that is not expected to happen this year as expected over an infringement by the coronavirus pandemic, which forced the date to be rescheduled until next year. The changes made to F9 date consequentially have affected the planned dates for its successors.
As speculated, F10 and F11 are expected to be the ending parts for the franchise, and Justin Lin will return as the director for the two films according to Deadline Hollywood. The film's producer Diesel had also teased about his plans to end the franchise with F10 as a two-part film.
"I started planning for Fast 10 before we started filming Fast 9," Diesel told Total Film. "And for the fans, should Fast 10 parts one and two be the conclusion, it would be nice for this world to continue for generations to come."
Just as Diesel hinted at making spinoffs, it is interesting to note that the franchise has already had a number of spinoffs with Hobbs & Shaw led by Johnson Dwayne starring alongside Jason Statham and Idris Elba as the villain.
Fast & Furious made its debut with F1 in 2001 and has since gone through an impressive trajectory at the box office having two entries - F7 and F8 - crossing the billion-dollar benchmark in global gross.
