Premier League: Sadio Mane Nets Double As Liverpool humble Chelsea

Chelsea suffered a disappointing home defeat to Liverpool on Timo Werner and Kai Havertz's debut as Sadio Mane scored two goals within the space of four minutes.

Mane delivered a brilliant finish with a header from Roberto Firmino's cross and followed with the second goal capitalizing on Kepa Arrizabalaga's woe for cleared the ball into the Senegalese path and lashed the ball home as Liverpool take a 2-0 lead early into the second half.

Andreas Christensen red-card for a rough tackle on Mane left Chelsea with 10-man throughout the second and Jorginho failed to convert a penalty in the 75th minutes that could have restored a comeback hope for the team.

Allison dived to saved Jorginho's spot-kick and Virgil van Dijk and James Milner quickly reacted to clear the ball into safety as N'Golo Kante and Jorginho rushed to get a rebound.

Reds' newly-signed Thiago Alcantara committed the penalty offense for bringing down Chelsea's Timo Werner who was making his debut in the league.

The two of Chelsea's six big signings this summer, however, could not effect a change in the team against the defending champions that poised to be the better and stronger side. In effect, Liverpool's unbeaten run got extended to 61 games in a row which yet proved uneasy to snap even at Stanford Bridge.
