Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Signs Three-Year Deal With Arsenal
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has finally penned his signature to a new deal that will keep him for three more years at Arsenal on Tuesday.
Arsenal have been in talks with the team captain amidst rumoured desire to leave the club as he counts down to the expiration date of his previous contract which ran until the summer of 2021.
He said on signing the deal, "Signing for this special club was never in doubt. I believe in Arsenal. We can achieve big things together."
Speculations of the Gabonese forward's planned exit from the club began to cool down after leading the club to lift the FA Cup for the first time in three years. He scored both goals in a 2-1 victory against Chelsea. The team proceeded to win the FA Community Shield with the club.
"He's a superb player with an incredible mentality," his manager Mikel Arteta added. "Being the player to have taken the least amount of time to reach 50 goals with this club tells you everything you need to know about him and his way of working."
Aubameyanf finished last season with 22 goals and that was the second-highest in the Premier League after Leicester forward James Vardy.
