Ollie Watkins: Aston Villa Complete Player's Signing From Brentford
Aston Villa have officially completed the signing of Ollie Watkins from Brentford to a club-record signing of £28million with add-ons that will see the fee increase to £33million.
Watkins comes as Villa replacement to Callum Wilson whose transfer they could not secure over break down of talks with Bournemouth and was later signed by Everton. However, the striker's move was the biggest sale for the EFL Championship side after Neal Maupay.
Soon after the official signing was completed on Wednesday, the club announced the transfer via its official Twitter account with an update captioned as, "Here we go...It's the one you've been waiting for."
The forward led at the Brentford as the highest golascorer last term with 25 league goals, leading the team to the fourth round of the FA Cup - left the competition in 1-0 lost to Leicester City. Watkins will be reuniting with Dean Smith who was his manager at Brentford and now head coach at Villa.
"Ollie has developed into one of the most sought-after strikers in the country," said Smith. "And we are looking forward to seeing him show his great qualities in aAston Villa shirt."
