Ollie Watkins Agrees To Join Aston Villa In Club-Record Sale For Brentford
Aston Villa on the edge of signing Ollie Watkins from Brentford as they have reportedly agreed on a club-record signing fee of £28million plus add-ons in the region of £5million.
Watkins is believed to have been deemed a replacement for Bournemouth's Callum Wilson who they failed to sign before talks broke down between the two clubs and Villa moved moved on and linked up with the former Exeter City player.
Wilson was later sold to Newcastle United for £20million on Monday whilst Villa switched interest to the EFL Championship side for Watkins who has a record of 49 goals in the 143 appearances.
The 24-year-old's signing fee will overturn the previous record transfer fee set at Brentford by Neal Maupay on his transfer to Brighton, and at Villa, he will upset Wesley Moraes' record-signing fee of £22million from Club Brugge in 2019.
