Luis Suarez Terminates Contract With Barcelona Amidst Atletico Madrid Interest

Luis Saurez has finalized his decision to leave Barcelona and has agreed to terminate his contract with the club after agreeing on personal terms to join Atletico Madrid.

Barcelona's new manager Ronald Koeman wanted the Uruguayan out of the club since he did not have a need for him in his game plan. The striker's link to Juventus has also suffered a setback as the Italians manager Andreas Pirlo said signing him will be "difficult" over time it takes to have his Italian passport done ahead of the transfer window deadline date.

According to RAC1, the former Liverpool striker has agreed to terminate his contract with the Catalan side giving up part of his salary to facilitate his transfer to Atletico.

Atletico now leads in the race to secure the 33-year-old signature and are reportedly ready to help finance a deal for the striker by letting go of Alvaro Morata to Juventus at also have interest in the Spaniard should bid for Suarez's transfer fail.

Suarez has before the arrival of Koeman been on Barcelona replacement plan with Lautaro Martinez lined up to take his place in the club but Barcelona are faced with difficulties of meeting up with the Argentine's release clause of €111million.

"I will not say names but Barca, like many clubs, have less income. We suffer from a lack of important resources and we have to adapt," Josep Maria Bartomeu told Spanish broadcaster Tv3.
