Luis Suarez Tears Up On Visit To Barcelona Training Ground
Luis Suarez lost his emotions over his imminent exit from Barcelona and could not help holding back his tears on his visit to the team's training session to say goodbye.
Atletico Madrid are in the line-up to sign the Uruguayan on leaving Barcelona, who already signed another striker and Ronald Koeman's countryman Memphis Depay from the French side Lyon for £28million including add-ons last week.
The former Liverpool striker spent six years at the club with which he won five league titles and a Champions League and will proceed to join their Spaniard counterparts in a £3.7million deal of two years expected to be completed this week.
Before the arrival of the club's new manager Koeman, Suarez has been in the line-up for a transfer with links to Inter Milan's forward Lautaro Martinez previously as a replacement. Securing a deal with the Italians for Martinez who has a price tag of £83million, began to suffer a setback over financial difficulties faced by the club since the coronavirus lockdown.
Barce chief executive, Josep Maria Bartomeu, explained the financial struggles of the club in an interview with a Spainish broadcaster Tv3, that the club "like many clubs have less income" as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
Suarez was initially set for a move to Juventus amidst his departure from Nou Camp, it later turned out that the transfer will not materialize over passport issue. The striker's bid to secure Italian citizenship failed over an alleged in language test he undertook.
