Luis Suarez Completes Move To Atletico Madrid


Luis Suarez has officially left Barcelona after signing to a deal with Atletico Madrid on Friday, ending his six years spell at Nou Camp after passing his medical. 

The Uruguayan was tearful when he paid a visit to his former team at the training ground this week in a farewell tribute to the team ahead of his transfer. Suarez exit was imminent since Barca manager Ronald Koeman has no need of him in his game plan. 

Juventus were initially linked to the player before securing the Italian passport issue stall his transfer, leaving Atletico in the race and they have signed him to a two-year contract for £5.5million.

Explaining why he joined the Spaniards, he revealed he had a lot of offers but chose to Atletico because they can compete well against the two top sides in La Liga - Barcelona and Real Madrid. 

"When Barca told me they weren't counting on me, there were many calls, many offers, but I was able to go to a team that can compete as equal with two great teams like Barcelona and Real Madrid," Suarez said. 

The former Liverpool forward led Barca to won four league titles and one Champions League title and scored 196 goals in 283 appearances during his reign at the club.
