Kanye West's Label To Give Artists Their Masters

Kanye West wants to live up to his words and will be giving back artists signed to his label G.O.O.D Music a fair share of their masters. This is what he craves for from his record labels, Universal Music and Sony/ATV.

The father-of-four has been outspoken on the treatment of artists by their record labels with the suspicion that some are in some ways treated differently. He made his demands from his labels known in a tweet and even claimed his master is worth more than that of Taylor Swift that was bought for $300million.

Announcing his decision to hand over to his artists a fair share of their masters, he wrote in a tweet Wednesday, "I'm giving all Good Music artist back 50% share I have of their masters."

Shortly after the update, artists signed to Ye's label could not help but make their opinion known which of course was welcoming the initiative as rapper Big Sean and O7o Shake rejoiced over the announcement made by their boss.

In a separate tweet, the Yeezy owner explained the reason for his decision and wrote, "The desired effect will only be achieved when every artist owns their masters. I'm Team 'Free Artists'"

The rapper-turn-fashion designer is currently worth $1.3billion according to Forbes. He massed most of the net worth from his footwear brand Yeezy being the sole owner of the company.
