Kai Havertz: Chelsea And Bayer Leverkusen Agree On £89m Transfer Fee
Kai Havertz is on the verge of completing his move to Stanford Bridge as Chelsea have agreed on a transfer fee of €80million plus add-ons of €20million for the midfielder.
Chelsea have been on the haul of prominent young players in Europe since the lifting of their transfer ban which will total at seven transfer completed under Frank Lampard with the potential signing of Havertz from the Bundesliga side.
Both sides on Wednesday reportedly reached an agreement on an £89million fee for the transfer of the midfielder over whom they have been in talks for weeks. Blues have the need to tidy up on their midfield on the exit of two of their long-serving players Willian and Pedro Rodriguez this summer.
The fee agreed on for Havertz's move will overtake the previous club-record signing by their goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga who was signed for £71.8million in 2018.
Last week, Chelsea completed the signing of Ben Chilwell from Leicester City for £50million, and the day after, signed Sarr Malang to a five-year contract as a free agent from Nice.
Havertz is presently training with the German national team ahead of their UEFA Nation League fixture against Switzerland. The youngster scored 18 goals for the Bundesliga side in the 2019/20 season.
