Everton Sign James Rodriguez To Two-Year Contract
Everton have officially completed the signing of James Rodriguez from Real Madrid in a two-year contract worth £22million on Monday.
The Colombian had a season remaining in his contract with the Spaniards but had fallen out of favour with the club manager Zinedine Zidane who did not find him impressive enough and could only make eight league game appearances last season.
"I am really happy to be at this great club, a club with so much history," said Rodriguez. "I'm looking forward to achieving great things here - and winning things, which is what everyone's aim is."
Rodriguez will be the second signing completed under Carlo Ancelloti this summer after Brazilian midfielder Allan who was signed to a three-year deal of £22.5million over the weekend.
"James, as everyone knows, is a fantastic player with a lot of quality and a lot of ability to make assists for the strikers," Ancelotti said about the newly-signed.
During his spell at Bernabeu, the 29-year-old was loaned to Bayern Munich for two seasons in 2017 but would not win the Germans' interest in signing him to a permanent deal despite winning two Bundesliga titles with the club.
