Europa League Play-Off: Son Heung-Min Inspires Tottenham To Victory Against Shkendija
Tottenham have edged closer to landing a Europa League qualification for winning the third-round playoff game against Macedonia side Shkendija by 3-1 with Son Heung-Min inspiring the side to victory.
The Japanese ace maintained his top form facilitating assists that created two goals and he added one to the goal tally to help push Spurs closer to securing a qualification. The game was Spurs' goalkeeper Joe Hart's debut and was beaten by the Macedonian's shot on their first attempt at the goal.
Shkendija did show considerable resilience against Spurs who took an early lead from Lamela's opener assisted by Son and managed to force an equalizer from Valmir Nafiu's 20-yard shot after the halftime break.
After Spurs' inability to convert scoring chances, Son did the needful to a rebound from Lucas Moura's attempted shot by smacking home the ball to give the side the lead. Then, nine minutes later, he curled the ball through to Harry Kane for a header from close range - Kane assisted with four goals against Southampton on Sunday.
Just as Lamela had a couple of chances to score more goal, Shkendija's Besart Ibrahimi was close to double the scoring for the side but headed Antonio Pavic's cross wide from close range.
