Carabao EFL Cup: Ferran Torres Scores As Manchester City Beat Burnley Ro Reach Quarter-Final
England International Raheem Sterling helped Manchester City through to the quarter-final of the EFL Cup by scoring a brace in the side's 3-0 win against Burnley.
Citizens regained their winning form after a disappointing 5-2 home defeat to Leicester City over the weekend that was marred by poor defensive play having committed three penalty offense in a single game.
Sterling set the team off to victory by curling into the net Benjamin Mendy's pass for the opening goal, he later had his attempts at the target to double the lead denied by goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrel.
Less than five minutes after the break, newly-signed Ferran Torres created the second goal with a cross that found Sterling for the finish from close range. Torres later tripled the scoring following a fast break inspired by Riyad Mahrez.
Torres made his debut for Citizens in the 2-1 win against Bournemouth in the third round of the EFL, his goal is the right winger's first for the side that signed him from Valencia for £20.78m in August.
