Carabao Cup: Kai Havertz Leads Chelsea To Fourth Round

There could not be a better way for Kai Havertz to prove his club record-signing of £71million to Chelsea was worth it than the way he did by helping the team progress to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

Chelsea progressed to the next round came off the back of the German player by contributing a hat-trick to their scoring streak against Barnsley that ended in a humiliating 6-0. Havertz was into his third game for Blues and seized the game to rewrite his floppy start to his career at the club.

In a show of his brilliance on the pitch, the striker punished Barnsley repeatedly for defensive errors but the opponents did not seem like who could have stopped Chelsea from going through to the next round. Havertz scored his first goal in the first half and added two more for a hat-trick after the break.

Blues moved in the lead from Tammy Abraham's opener and Havertz doubled the scoring to give the side a comfortable lead before the halftime break.

Ross Barley tripled the lead just after the break, Havertz followed six minutes later scoring twice within ten minutes. Olivier Giroud wrapped up the streak with the sixth on the brink of full time.
