Barcelona Agree Deal With Lyon For Memphis Depay
Lyon's Memphis Depay is set for a move to Barcelona for a reunion with the club's new manager Ronald Koeman who was a former Holland national team head coach.
The Dutch player is near completing his transfer from Lyon as he is reportedly due to travel to Nou Camp for his medical after an agreement has been reached between both clubs.
Being Koeman's favourite and having specifically demanded for him from his current club, Depay is deemed the replacement for Luis Suarez and he is set to be signed for €25million plus add-ons of €5million - in total the deal is worth £28M - on completion of his medical.
Barcelona have time on their hands to complete the transfer of the striker as the summer transfer window in La Liga lasts until October 5 and the club will play their season-opening game against Villareal on September 27.
The 26-year-old joined the French team in 2017 for £14million from Manchester United after a flop spell that only lasted for 18 months under Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho.
Lyon finished the 2019/20 season in seventh place during which Depay only made 13 league appearances with 9 goals as the season was cancelled following the coronavirus pandemic.
