Willian Declares He Will Be Leaving Chelsea
Willian will be leaving Chelsea this summer despite efforts to retain him with a new deal as the winger has declared that his exit after contract expiration will be happening.
In a letter to the club, the 31-year-old confirmed that the time has come for him to "move on" after spending seven seasons at the club where he did not only win trophies but become "a better person and a better person."
"The time has now come to move on," he wrote in the letter. "I am certainly going to miss my team-mates. I will miss all the staff at the club who've always treated me like a son and I will miss the fans."
Apparently, the Brazilian is set for a move to Arsenal in a three-year deal which they have both agreed on last Thursday. Meanwhile, Chelsea offered him a two-year deal which he turned down to accept a move to their London-based rivals.
Willian, in the seven-season long spell, has enjoyed favorable appearances with a total of 234 in league games, winning five silverware with the club amongst which two Premier League titles.
Expressing his gratitude to the club on his accomplishments he wrote in the latter part of the letter, "I leave with my head held high, safe in the knowledge that I won things here and always did my best in a Chelsea shirt."
