Silva played his last game with the Ligue 1 champions in the side's UEFA Champions League 1-0 final match defeat to Bayern Munich on Sunday. It was the club's first-ever appearance in the final of the UCL which he led the team to as the captain.

"I am so happy to be joining Chelsea," he said on his transfer. " I am delight to be a part of Frank Lampard's exciting squad for next season and I'm here to challenge for honours."

In his eight years spell at the club that he joined from AC Milan, the Brazilian led the French side to win seven league titles. In total, he won 24 silverware with PSG.

"Having performed at the highest level for many years, we have no doubts his experience and quality will complement the many exciting talents we already have here," said Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia.
