Southampton Lead Chase For Watford's Danny Welbeck
Danny Welbeck stands not to relegate with Watford as Southampton have reportedly shown interest in triggering his release clause of £5.5million for his transfer.
Warford were amongst the three clubs that were relegated to the EFL Championship this season and there are speculations that former Arsenal player and his teammate Michael Obafemi are the two players that will leave Vicarage Road before the start to a new Prem season.
Saints are not alone in the need for the England international but it is understood the club's manager Ralph Hasenhuttl might be willing to make an offer since he is a top fan of the striker.
Likewise, Aston Villa lead in the race for Obafemi who has a price tag of £10million and they also have a contender in the chase for the player as West Bromwich are also rumoured to be showing interest.
Welbeck started his professional career at Manchester United where he spent six years during which he was loaned to Preston and Sunderland before joining Arsenal in a £16million transfer in 2016.
