New Yeezy Trainers Criticised Over Name
Kanye West has found himself in the middle of criticism for naming his newly-released Yeezy trainers 350 V2 after angelic characters in the Islamic faith.
Though it might not be intentional still Muslim fans of the brand deemed the rapper-turned-fashion designer decision to name two newly dropped Yeezy trainers Israfil and Asriel as offensive. Both names in their religion are of angelic beings of judgment and death respectively.
Reacting to the names, those social media users regarded the use of Israfil and Asriel as names of trainers as "mockery and offensive" towards their religion. Kanye is yet to bulge over the criticism.
Adidas already has one of the brands in stock and the other is due to be in the brand's stock in a matter of weeks. Nonetheless, name controversy hangs over both Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Israfil and Asriel unaddressed.
Recently, the father-of-four signed ten years contract with a clothing giant GAP, and the two outlets will be collaborating on a new frontline named 'Yeezy-GAP Line'. The deal signed with GAP comes with a five-year extension option upon the expiration of the contract.
