Kevin de Bruyne Named Premier League Player of the Season

Kevin de Bruyne has been announced as the Premier League player of the 2019/2020 season just hours after Manchester City was eliminated from the Champions League by Lyon. 

The Belgian midfielder scored Citizens' only goal in their 3-1 defeat to the French side that hauled them out in the quarter-finals of the UCL on Saturday night.  

Three Liverpool players from were also amongst nominees shortlisted for the prize and those include Sadio Mane, Jordan Henderson, and Trent Alexander-Arnold. 

Leicester City's striker Jamie Vardy received the season's Golden Boot being the highest goalscorer with 23 goals followed by Southampton's Danny Ings who scored 22 goals in 38 league games appearances. 

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was announced as the Premier League manager of the season on Saturday following the club's impressive campaign during which they won the league title for the first time in three decades. 

Klopp had led the team to an international silverware hattrick - UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club's World Cup champions - the previous season before snapping the club's EPL title drought this season.
