Juventus Sack Maurizio Sarri After Exit From Champions League

Maurizio Sarri has reached the sudden end of his reign at Juventus following his dismissal just hours after the club's elimination from the Champions League by Lyon on Friday.

Juve's 2-1 victory over the Ligue 1 side could yet not guarantee their qualification for the quarter-finals having lost 1-0 to the French team in the first leg of the knockout stages. On aggregate, they fell short on away goal advantage.

Despite acknowledging the ninth Serie A title won by the club under Maurizio, Juve president Andrea Agnelli expressed his disappointment in the team for an early exit from the Champions League which is top on the "objective" for the team to win.

"The Champions League is not a dream, it's an objective. We need to be disappointed to exit the competition like this," Andrea said in an interview with Sky Sports after Juve's defeat to the French side. "We have a few goals that need to be met, both domestically and internationally."

The 61-year-old replaced the former manager Allegri Massimiliano last summer after spending one season at Premier League side Chelsea with which he won the UEFA Europa League in his debut.

Revealing the club's next line of action, Andrea said: "We will need a few evaluations to understand how to start the next season with the will to work and win on any pitch."

Presently, the club has given no hint on the potential successor of the former manager, Maurizio, but there are speculations that Massimiliano who won five straight Serie A titles with the club might return for a season spell.

Also, former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has also been rumour as a possible candidate in the list including Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, whose team Real Madrid was eliminated by Manchester City on Friday.
