Jurgen Klopp Rules Out Interest In Lionel Messi

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has dropped out of the number of head coaches monitoring Lionel Messi's situation at Barcelona with the anticipation of signing the player over as he would rather stick to his squad which he believes is just "OK" by him.

Messi has asked his club he wants to leave and now that the release clause of £636million in his contract had expired in June, he can leave as a free agent at a much-reduced price.

Though Reds have been rumoured to be amongst the big clubs that are in the race to sign the six-time Ballon d'Or winner, Klopp has come out to say that the speculation can not be true despite admitting the Argentine without a doubt is a "great" player to have.

"Who doesn't want Messi in their team?" he replied when asked about the rumours. "For the Premier League, it would be great, but I am not sure the Premier League needs that boost."

Klopp led his team to beat Barcelona last season en route their first Champions League title victory since 2005/05, in a stunning comeback in the semis by beating the Spaniards 4-0 at Anfield Stadium that eclipsed the Catalan's 3-0 advantage from the first-leg tie.

Speaking of his plans on making new signings this summer, he added, "I'm happy with what we have but we look constantly for improvement - internally too."

"We will deal with our situation as we always have. The philosophy of this club is clear and we will see how much we want to spend."

Liverpool will play Arsenal for the FA Community Shield on Saturday as both teams will contest for their second silverware this season.
