British GP Qualifying: Lewis Hamilton Claims Seventh Silverstone Pole

Lewis Hamilton has extended his dominance at Silverstone to a record feat of seventh pole position and behind him was his teammate Valtteri Bottas at the qualifying session of Saturday.

As the defending winner at the British Grand Prix, Hamilton defiled a situation that could have cost him the pole and fired up delivering two record-breaking laps at Q3 to emerge 0.313s quickest for an all-time biggest Formula 1 pole position of 91.

When the six-time F1 champion lost control on the wheel and spun around on the gravel in Q2, his teammate Bottas set the fastest lap to be in the provisional pole. Hamilton later staged an incredible recovery to reclaim the pole.

"There is excitement and nerves at this race knowing how many people come, through wanting to excel and deliver for everybody because you go on an incredible journey together," said Hamilton. "I tried to keep that in mind this weekend."

Sebastian Vettel did not have an impressive race unlike his teammate Charles Leclerc who claimed the fourth behind Red Bull Max Verstappen. Sebastian qualified in the 10th place.

After the qualifying, Verstappen praised the pace at which the Mercedes duo drove and call out Red Bull technical team to improve on their car to have the pace just as his counterparts, Hamilton and Bottas.

British driver Lando Norris finished fifth for McLaren and in between him and his teammate Carlos Sainz was Racing Point's Lance Stroll who finished sixth.
