Black Panther Actor Dies Following Protracted Illness
Tragedy has struck a famous Marvel franchise, a blockbuster African-American superhero film titled Black Panther, as its lead actor Chadwick Boseman passed away after a long-fight against Colon Cancer. He was aged 43.
Black Panther debuted the box office as the highest grossing superhero film of all-time in 2018, racking in $147million from the domestic market in its opening weekend. It closed in the market with an astonishing global gross of $1.5b, making it the best performing film on the year after Avengers: Infinity War.
It was gathered that Boseman passed away at his resident in Los Angeles, Calofornia on with his wife and family surrounding him.
"It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman," the family said in a statement. "Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last year as it progressed to stage IV."
For his role in the Ryan Coogler-directed film, the deceased won six awards amongst which was NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture in 2019, and Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Ccast in a Motion Picture in 2019.
