Unai Emery Signs Three-Year Contract With Villarreal

Former Arsenal head coach Unai Emery has returned to football management and signed a three-year deal with Villarreal as their new manager.

Emery will replace the club's former manager Javier Calleja, who was sacked on Monday after spending three seasons at the club - he was dismissed and replaced by Luiz Gracia for less than two months following before he was reinstated by the club in January 2019.

"I don't hold any grudge but I'm hurt. I don't think they will call me again, it's the end of a period," Javier said on a radio show El Transistor.

"Now it's the turn of Unai Emery and I hope he puts it as high as possible. I'm hurt by the way this has happened. I would have done it different."

Villarreal secured a Europa League qualification under Javier having finished in the fifth position in La Liga and the former manager's exit paved the way to Emery's return to Spain after being sacked by Arsenal in November.
