Thiago Silva Holds Back Discussing Future After Paris Saint-Germain


Thiago Silva is due to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer as he is yet to secure a new deal with the club while his contract is set to expire next month, August.

However, left to the centre-back, it will be his delight to stay if the club asked him, but at the moment, discussing his future at the Ligue champions is not a priority. 

The Brazilian ace has spent eight seasons at Parc des Princes from AC Milan in 2012. Name the silverware in France, he has won it all with the club including seven Ligue 1 titles. Now, he stands to end his long spell at the club this summer. 

"They asked if I could stay, but it's not my decision. Now is not the time to talk about this topic," he said at a news conference. "We will have time to talk about it later. I didn't want to leave, but the decision has already been made. I respect [the decision] and will respect it until the end."

Silva will yet play for PSG until the end of their Champions League campaign for the 2020 season and also at their Coppa de France final against St-Etienne on Friday which is believes to be a farewell game for him - it will be the five-time for the 35-year-old winning the trophy with the club. 

Going further in his speech, he added, "There are no further discussions [about my future]. Leonardo [the club's sporting director] has already spoken to the press. I don't want you to talk about this just yet."

The defender's reign at the club is well-ladened with trophies having won 21 silverware in total with the club. He also has a record of 17 goals in 310 appearances in all competitions.
