Premier League: Chelsea Boost Champions League Qualification Hope After Beating Norwich City

Chelsea continued to seal the quest for their Champions League qualification bid with a 1-0 home win against Norwich City having gained four-point clear nearest team Manchester United.

Frank Lampard whose team faces uncertainty in their qualifying for the CL quarter-final bid after losing 3-0 to Bayern Munich in the first leg of the knockout stages, will be securing a ticket for the team to participate in the competition for the time in his football management career.

The hosts could have had more than the lone goal scored by Olivier Giroud on the brink of half-time as Christian Pulisic failed to convert the scoring chance created for him by Giroud.

However, Giroud netted the winning goal with a header following a cross from Pulisic, and the team held on to the lead through the game which they well dominated over their opponents.

Speaking to Sky Sports Lampard said, "At this stage of the season results are critical and we didn't concede any chances of note to let them score."

Chelsea have maintained unbeaten run through five consecutive games which are their longest streak since 2017. Likewise, Giroud has for three league game starts in a roll scored for the side.

He added. "We need to move the ball quicker and be more mobile with our rotations. We have done it in parts this season but if we want to move on, it needs to be better."
